Ram ball mount for 07 k12gt?

Hello,

I just picked up an 07 kgt and am looking for options for mounting my ram unit. I'm trying to avoid using the clutch resevoir. Is there anything that fits into the little hole on the grip for the mirror? Or does anyone else have other suggestions? TIA.

i used a Ramball threaded ball that I screwed into the left hand handlebar mount, in place of the existing bolt.

I already had the rest of the mount (lever etc). Works well.

Let me know if you would like pictures.

Corkboy, picture would be great! Also, do you happen to remember the thread pattern on the bolt?

There is also the TechMount mirror mount, which is purpose-designed to fit a 2006-2008 K1200GT mirror mount hole, left or right.

TECHMOUNT's from Pirates' Lair at 828.628.7093 EST

You can attach nearly anything to it directly, or attach a RAM ball.

IMPORTANT: There are no mirror mount holes on the K1300GTs. They have a different handlebar switch set, and the mirror mount holes were eliminated.

Techmount also makes a purpose-designed center bracket that uses the two bolts that adjust handlebar height. I am currently using one for my GPS. It sits in between the handlebars, just under the key slot.

(I have a TechMount mirror hole mount that I would like to sell. PM if interested.)

Not sure it matters but what are you putting on the ram mount?

Here's photos, one with the mount attached and one without. The bolt has an Allen head and goes through the ball. I will have to dig up the original invoice tomorrow in work.
I may have bought the ball from RAM and bought the bolt locally, by bringing in the original and getting one with the extra length. Now that I think of it, the original bolt has a torx head and the replacement has an Allen head.

Sorry, I can't find the original invoice but I'm almost certain this is the one

It was a but of a struggle to get the original bolt out, I think there was a bit of corrosion. But it's s straightforward screw out and screw in otherwise.

Thanks! I just ordered one. So you say the supplied bolt wasn't long enough? It's no big deal.....I can run to grainger or fastenal to find something that will work.
