Dissapearance of i-BMW.com

Anyone know anything about what happened to i-BMW.com?

Seems that they have disappeared into thin air! !

We're not sure. A lot of i-bmw readers have come here as an alternative. The web site lost it's DNS pointers, as far as I can tell, but I don't know what happened to the server and content. It's as if the owner of the domain name just let it lapse. But it's only about $40 to register a domain name, and that could have been fixed overnight. Since it's been a month or so now, I'd say that the site disappearance is not an accident. I think the site owner was having some support issues (money) that could be the explanation here.

BEECH came over and said wait until the end of June before giving up. He thinks the owner may be trying to resurrect it? (I'm assuming new server location, if anything.)

Thanks for your thoughts on the disappearance of i-BMW. I'll wait and see if it reappears. It's been quite a while since I checked out K-bikes.com..... I just noticed that the bike photo that accompanies my posting is (ahem!) slightly out of date; it's a K100 that I sold 9 years ago when I bought my present 2008 K1200GT.

Iím with everyone. That was my go to for wrenching on complicated portions of my Ď08 GT. Somewhere I read that Victory managed the domain and payment. If thatís the case does anyone know how to contact him and possibly get it back. The wealth of info and technical history on that sight for our bikes is not matched anywhere else.

The most complicated job I did on my 08 K1200GT, was to partially disassemble the ABS and repair it. I had photos of the process posted on i-BMW, but they're gone now, I suppose. At least the ABS now works great!

I never got that far. I tend to be behind the pack with issues because of just riding it with less miles...Thatís to say that I use the historical record of what goes bad on these bikes religiously a mine ages. I did clutch two winters ago with the help of the forum, beech and John Sykes. All of which were on and found on I-BMW. My abs has been fine, so far, knock on wood...but I remember your thesis you wrote on the abs fix and may have even saved it.
I believe some of things I did make PDFs of, I should look to see what I have saved.

I think there are a lot of us who like to see it come back if even for a short period to collect our stories.

There is simply no excuse for taking the combined effort and community knowledge for these bikes and throwing it in the trash with no explanation. If he doesnít want to run the site.........for any reason.......fine. Give the database to someone else. A lot of people combined a lot of work to create great threads and fixes in there. Vic had a responsibility as curator.

For whatever reason, this is simply the big FU to all the members and contributors. I donít know Vic but no quality person would do this.
