Brake Pad Indicator

Has anyone had a brake pad warning light stay on and you cant get rid of it? Factory pads have the wear wire built in - it brakes or rubs through when you have exceeded the limit to the pads. Replacing factory pads are ridiculously expensive. I chose the other route: replace with High End NORMAL pads and relocate the wire (checking to make sure it is in one piece). I am still getting this indicator and cant seem to get rid of it.
Thoughts ?

What year is your bike (2006-2008)? My 2009 K1300GT does not have wear indicators.

2009 K1300 GT
1984 Kawasaki ZX750-E1 Turbo
1990 Kawasaki ZX600R
2005 R1200 RT - gone
2008 Honda CBR1000 RR - gone

The 2006-2008 K1200GTs have the wear indicators. They didn't work. Some pads without sensors wore out first and caused damage to rotors before the sensor wire broke and the indicator lit.

The brake light staying on problem may be:
* Short in the wire.
* Sensor wire is broken at the sensor, which is the same as saying "short in the wire."
* There was a recall where the cable ties holding the wires were installed too tight at the factory and caused shorts in the wire.
* The wires are delicate and there may be a short in the wire above where you are looking.

If the wire is fixed and there is no short (are you really sure??):

* Some earlier firmware versions did not automatically reset. You can use a GS-911 or get the dealer to clear it out.
* I have seen all kinds of magical incantations about how to get the automatic reset to work. The one I remember is to ride the bike at more than 30 mph, and apply the brakes. Repeat 3 times.

Thank XMagna.. I do own and have reset the controller with my GS-911 ( a must have these days). I still get that indicator coming on. I checked the wiring at the plug on front and back for 'continuous circuit' from the plug through the wear-wire and all good there. PERHAPS I have a wire pinched or something that is from the plug side up to the controller. That is the next 'painfull' step. AHHHHHHH !
