HID Aftermarket

Had a chance last night to ride the GT in the dark - and the low beam is a little anemic for my tastes.
Has anyone installed an aftermarket HID on their GT yet? Any recommended vendors?
Other thoughts?
Thanks,
Bill

I don't believe anyone has, but you might be the first.

You can get a HID setup pretty inexpensively at www.cqlight.ca

Or you could wait for the Xenon retro kit from BMW when the 2007 GTs come in with that option.

The Xenon idea sounds good as it would be a factory fit but isn't it 6 -8 months away before it hits stateside? Also - any idea on the cost of the retrofit kit?
Still mulling over the options.

I don't find the GT's low-beam to be anemic at all...but to each his own.

I installed the aftermarket kit, that Jeff linked you to, on my K1200LT. In fact, I've installed 6 of those kits on other LT's as well. But I've decided to wait and see what BMW is doing with the reflector of the GT's with the OEM Xenon setup before buying the CQ.Light.ca kit. The current reflector of the GT may not support an HID lamp very well . . . I don't know. I want to compare the designs of both before doing that mod.

I have to agree, Joe.
I live in an area where there are very few "night lights", and driving in the dark has never left me feeling like I NEEDED more light.

I am just old

The area I am driving at night has no lights and the local game (deer, fox, etc) occassionally like to come out and play. The exisiting light does not light up the edges of the road or as far down the road as I would like. I like lots of visual distance to make up for my slow reaction times I guess :-).
I agree with Joe and will wait and see how the BMW retro kit looks.

Hey man, I know what you mean.
I live in Idaho and once off the freeway lights are an afterthought.
Only thing is, I wish all I had to worry about was little critters.
It is not uncommon for the 1,000 lb.+ elk to be moving all over the roads around here at night.

See, Joe thinks that speed is the only excitement on his GT!

Feeding in the AG fields, you never know when they will decide the grass is greener on the other side.
Still, I don't feel at a disadvantage with the GT's lights.
I've never tried those whistle thingy's either.

I just spend more time on my knees asking for protection, than looking for brighter lights I guess.

Silly me.
