Thumbs down GT1 computer crash

Took my new GT to BMW Manhattan to get the 7.0 upgrade under warranty as I had complained about "bucking" in 1st & 2nd gears at the 600 mile service. I now have 2000 on the odo and the problem has not gotten better.

The service tech says that he maight have to disconnect the added Kissan license plate LED unit before the software update at $88.00. I said"OK, if it is necessary".

Got a call a few hours later. Bad news. While downloading the software, their computer crashed. By 3PM, they had not gotten their new download from BMW NA, so I have to wait until tomorrow, hopefully. My tech rep said that BMW NA usually responds within an hour or two.

Maybe, because today is 9/11. BMW needs more time to respond ???

Because of them making you wait, I'd say that the $88 charge should go Bye-Bye!

Unhooking the Kissan brake light think is complete BS, but that's the game.

I have one, and they never unhooked or even noticed that it was there and the upgrade went OK. I did however not install it the Kissan way. I put 1/4" quick disconnect connectors on the Kissan wiring harness and used 2-1 quick disconnect adapters right on the light bulb sockets so I would never leave a mark or any permanent indication on the BMW wiring harness that anything was ever there.

Tuesday,
I still have not heard from BMW as to when they will get my bike ready. Bummer, as today is a good day to ride.

Would you believe, they will not do any farkles for this bike. I have done the Kissan license plate holder and I guess I will have to do my motolights and autocomm myself, even thought I would prefer a dealer to do it, as they usually do pretty clean & neat electrical wiring. I may call Danbury, CT, as I know they do good aftermarket stuff.

What bugs me, is that the defucnt Westchester BMW was a branch of the Manhattan shop and they did such good aftermarket stuff on my last bike 2002KRS.

I can't fathom anyone not doing their own farkles in the first place. But that's just me.

Crashed again I just got off the phone with the nerds at Manhattan BMW and they cannot figure out why my bike will not take the upgrade. They are in "contact" with the higherups at BMW NA . Another day shot in beautiful riding weather.

Maybe I can invoke a "lemon " Law ???

Larry,

Just be careful, if you post anything bad about Manhattan BMW Shiva will ban you even if you dont post on his site . Someone tried to say something bad about that place once and he bitch slapped them. Could it be he is essentially sponsored by them and they let him ride bikes for free? Na, that can't be it.

El Barto: I have not bad mouthed Manhattan BMW. I am just a bit pissed that a simple job of updating software is not happening in 2 full days of having my bike. If it isn't solved soon, I may get a bit more than a little pissed off.
And who is Shiva ?

Larry,

Just kidding. He is a moderator on another K12 site. Not really worth looking at and the traffic is real low. Most of the new topics are people who "shotgun" for an answer all three sites.

Hope you get it all worked out at the shop. I have to do the 7.0 upgrade one of these days but the bike seems to be running great and I'm a little scared.

Still no bike - Latest update

1st call to Manhattan BMW at noon.
"Your bike is out for a test ride and then the GT-! computer will upload the software"
2nd call to Manhattan BMW at 3PM
"the tech is working on it now, as we should have a good upload now, after speaking to BMW NA. We will call as soon as it is ready"
3rd call at 5:30PM..operator says"they have all gone home for the day"

This is getting ridiculous. Brought the bike in on Monday for version 7.0 .

I guess, tomorrow AM, I may have to start getting testy
or nasty or something with the folks that are the only game in town !
Missed three classic early Fall days of riding.

Expecting to drive home with this bike in the rain tomoorw, if it ever gets done !
