Break in questions...

Hello,

I'm picking up my new '07 Graphite GT tomorrow I was wondering what you owners have done as far as break in.

The bike is coming with 6.0 installed and I'm wondering if I should have them do 7.0 or wait?

Also, has anyone found a service manual pdf yet? I've done most of the maintanence on my oilheads and hexhead. Is the oil change procedure a PITA on this bike?

Thanks for all your help.

Matt

The oil change is not a pain, it's just different. No big deal now that I've done it 4 times.

Read THIS PAGE and you'll know how I broke my '06 in.

Does anyone know if there is a torque value for the filter and the crank case bolt?

Torque value for the filter? Umm...just tight enough so it don't leak works for me. Torque value for the drain plug? Just until snug, and then a leetle extra. I'm not going to lie to use and tell you that I'm going to use a torque wrench on those two things. No sir.

FOLLOW THE MANUAL!! BMW Engineers designed the engine> Why would you follow someone else's uneducated advice?

I have yet to have 7 installed. I'm feeling more and more confident with 6. There are certainly some positive comments on 7. I'd wait and see how you like it first. Greg (ClearwaterBMW) likes 6 on his very recently delivered '07.

Not that I know of. Sure would like one myself. The oil change is a cake walk. Procedures are to found by searching in this forum.

Thanks for all your help.

GOOO LUCK! Enjoy the new marvel. I'm totally smitten.

Matt
