Color Schem

Has anyone had problems ordering options listed on the BMW website? See e-mails below:

I have place a deposit on a new K1200GT with a local dealer. I wanted to spec the bike colors like the bike shown on your web site Dark Graphite Metallic with the light grey seat and tank covers. The dealer is telling me that you (BMW) will not let him order the bike this way? Is this true that you display an advertisement of a bike in a color that cannot be ordered?

Trust me on this one....

Unless you are really masochistic, you'll be looking for an aftermarket seat rebuilder in short order. They can probably do whatever you like with regards to the color of the stock seat.

The tank side panels are another matter. However, I'd grab the bike if the dealer had the Dark Gray Metallic in stock. I wanted that one to begin with, but I had to settle for the "too damn fast" Crystal Gray Metallic instead.

You could wait a long, long time to get it otherwise. Most likely, the dealer would need to swap out color tank panels from another bike - and dealers aren't particulary noted for doing such swaps since it is a high demand bike - okay, some are lazy too.

Be thankful BMW offers a selection of colors. Other brands are pretty much bland as to color selection of a model.

Good luck!

Good luck!
Same with saddles.
When my wife was choosing her CS the dealer gave her side panels from one bike and saddle from the second one. So finally she got a unique bike.:-))

Take care!
