Pillion footrests - changed by BMW

I knew that some major changes had been made by BMW to the new K1200GT since its launch 6 months ago including fuel/throttle issues, dumping servo assisted brakes etc.

BUT I did not know they had modified the pillion footrests.

I found this out when a pillion footrest lowering kit arrived from MV-Motorrad.de and it did not fit at all.

I sent it back to them with an explanation and spoke to Monika who said they would investigate. Three days later they emailed me and said that BMW have changed the pillion footrests and that they have changed the kit they supply.

Thanks to MV-Motorrad for sorting this out for me and I hope to get the revised kit soon.

Thanks to BMW for changing the footrest design with improvement in mind, but no thanks for doing so without a clear statement of that to the industry/public/press. (Assuming all of the above is correct)

When I rode my demo ride I was hitting my wifes right foot with my right foot almost everytime I put my feet down from the pegs. There didn't seem to be much clearance. I could easily overlook this but maybe repositioning the pegs will make it better (I hope not worse).

Glad to know...

Cheers.

I notice that too... Hitting wife's foot when putting my foot down/up. Also rubbing her foot while riding/shifting...

I am surprise BMW changes these so quick... I would have guess 06 and 07 will identical before buying my 06 two months ago...

Wonder if 07 GT have the engine stalling, idle high issues...

When I get the chance to look at another bike I will confirm this. At the moment I am going by what the parts supplier has said.

I have a small rubber mounted metal plate on the hanger that acts as a spring to allow the peg to fold. Maybe its that. Not sure if the position of the feet has been changed at all so hold your horses on that one.
