Brake MASTER CYLINDER leaking..... no '07 GT for 2 weeks

during my first service today
it was noticed that the BRAKE master cylinder was leaking
and 3 panels.... (yes...... THREE panels) have been paint damage from the leaking fluid

so......
the result
no bike for at least 2 weeks
no one knows when they can get a new master cylinder
the panels will be replaced.... NOT critical, of course

hmmmmmmmm
i guess i ought to DEMAND that BMW pay for my first service.....
don't you think?

so.....
everyone.... check your brake master cylinders please

Greg, all that time waiting for it to arrive and then you lose it for two weeks....?? You haven't been upsetting anyone have you - like anyone connected with voodoo or similar?

Sorry to hear of your troubles - just had mine serviced and they sorted a number of minor issues and it's running like a dream, better than ever. They said they have installed yet another update of the software (7.01?) to solve a problem I had with the engine cutting out if you started the bike while the engine was still hot. Not seen anything about that on this site, but it was beginning to become annoying. Upgrade seems to have solved it.

Hope you get yours back before the withdrawal symptoms set in. At least you still have the Brutale (but it's not the same is it???)

i didn't think i'd offended the RIDING gods.....
but, maybe i had

glad you bike is in working order
BUT, with only 13 flashes allowed on your bike's computer before it needs to be replaced...
i certainly hope that you won't need another update any time soon

ride safe
will be on the brutale in the morning
and.... NO... it isn't the same... for better or worse at times

G'day Greg.
I'm not sure I understand why you would need to demand they pay for the first service.
Did you get a loan bike (if asked for)?
If they replaced the faulty item, and damaged panels, the warranty has been met.
I hate having to pay for the first service on my BMs, but it is a requirement.
I know what it's like to not have your new machine though mate. Luckily, mine seems to have been fixed, or at least hasn't exhibited any of the gear indication or lack of servo symptoms that I had a few weeks ago. They are changing the parts either way.
My dealer has left due to poor health, which is a real shame. I have to build up a relationship with a new dealer from scratch.

Best wishes mate.

Greg,

And where the master cylinder is situated?
Is it necessary to take out a panel?

Take care!

Hi Greg,

Sorry to hear about your problem with your bike. I remember you waited forever for your 07 GT.

Hope you get your bike back soon.

ken
my point is that....
when a bike has a manufacturer's defect....
and it'll take 2-3 weeks to get it back to me and it's only 2 weeks old...
the MAIN COMPANY OUGHT to "compensate" me, somehow

this is my 5th BMW bike, afterall
