side panel removal

I have removed the 7 screws on the left side panel but it will not release. Any help
would be appreciated. I do not want to force and risk breaking a tab.

Thanks,

Phil

I think there are more than 7 screws in the panel. If I remember there are three maybe four on the back side up near the oil cooler. They are black so you don't see them unless you are looking for them. Also there is a plastic pin attached to the panel that you push into a rubber grommet. You can see it if you slightly pull the panel away near where your knee would be and flash a light in there. FYI there are three tabs at the bottom that you setinto the belly pan. Un like the old GT's you do not need to remove the belly pan to remove the side panels.

I presume by now you got it back together; hoping you noticed the different sized screws Phil. Ask me how I know.

When I put the left panel back on I ended up with 2 extra screws. For the life of me I can't seem to find where they go! :wtf

Take that as a warning to not follow me too close. You may never know when it is going to peel off.

I didn't end up with extra screws but when I brought it in for 600 mile service quite a while ago the tech asked me if I had the panels off for any reason. I sheepishly answered yes and was told I had some screws back in INCORRECTLY. They fixed them. I know better and of course now mark each hole with labeled masking tape screw hole!!! Embarrassing!

John,

After having a an 1150RT that requiresd maybe a dozen fastners per side of different lenghts I make a pattern where each screw goes. On the GT I remember two screws being longer than the others. Thanks for the heads up.
