Radar Box

I loved the Hoon Hardware box on the LT as it kept the water at bay as it flooded from the heavens, thereby keeping my expensive Valentine 1 from becoming a mini boat anchor.

So, I bought one for the GT. It looked like a huge casket sitting up there on top of the Big Mak shelf and you had to place it so far forward to keep the Cee Bailey from hitting it that it blocked the top part of the speedometer.

I considered slaughtering a Pelican Box and thought if I had to go thru that much work that I might as well make one. I dug around the gearage till I found that piece of plexiglass that I knew someday I just couldn't live without and commenced to hacking and glueing.

A leetle size comparison:

And a couple of pix all rattle canned and sitting purdy.

It fits perfectly and is just a tad bit bigger than the Valentine.

That is a great idea. I have been trying to figure something out myself.

BTW what tank bag is that?

Thanks,
Brian

That be a Chicane. One thing I really love about it is the ability to put a hydration system in it, the clip you see on the side is for the tube. Hot Texas summers, or just long rides in general, leave me drinking lots of water.

I made a similar one out of two ammo (plastic) boxes. Needed two cuz I used the two outter pieces. Cost about $3.00 and this was for my Escort X50. One hour and a bit of drummeling and whalla.

FYi.. for those looking for a "less creative" solution.... The guys over at Legal Speeding @ http://www.legalspeeding.com/ offer plastic, water-proof, form-fitting radar detector covers for only $25.

We tested the Passport version a while back and it was very cool...I think the V1 version is available now.. not sure..

If I had any plans to ride in the rain on a regular basis.. this is what I'd use.. Hope this helps..

I use the Gadget Guy mount for the V1, metal plate with Garmin rotating dash mount. The legal speeding cover is really cool and easy to modify around anything. I cut an oval into the bottom to match the metal plate on the V1 Gadget Guy mount, and stuck it on. Works like a champ and isn't as big and bulky as the Hoon mount.

Anybody wanna buy a Hoon mount?
