Another Convert

I best introduce myself. I'm Rob from Kansas. I've been a Beemer rider for 10 years, first with a '89 R100RT, then a new '97 R11RT that I rode for 83,000 miles and a year and a half ago I bought a '05 R12RT that currently has 24,000 miles on it.

The '05 is a great bike. It does everything better than the '97 but I have not bonded with it. Even my wife noticed it and told me to get something else.

Enter the new GT. I took it out for a brief ride. First in some two lane twistees and then out on the interstate. WOW! the power is addictive.

I don't know if the four cylinder buzz will bother me in the long run. Will it calm a bit after a few miles? I'm used to the twins getting smoother as mile pyle on.

Bad thing is, the SWMBO now wants to trade her '96 R11RS in on one.

The '05 RT has been striped of all the farkles and ready to take to Bentonville for the trade off. I just need to find the time to ride down and bring home the Crystal Grey drivers license threating machine.

Please be kind to me.

Welcome Rob!

I'm an old Kansas boy now living in the Portland, Oregon area. You know that it has been scientifically proven that Kansas is as flat as a pancake! If you want to have some fun with that new KGT of yours, you're more than welcome to come up for a visit anytime.

Uh-Oh!

The CGM one, eh?

Yer doomed Bro.

May as well go on down to the local Leo Shop and turn yourself in now and just get it over with.

Enjoy the ride!

first of all..... WELCOME
i'm glad you are here and talking about the GT
as for you 4-cylinder buzz.....
WHAT?
there may be some "sweet spot" to which you are referring
otherwise, the bike will be about 1,000,000,000,000,000 times LESS buzzy than any RT made... including the '05

Small world, I talked to Bentonvilled about the GT and they told me about the Crystal Grey, went to Little Rock instead and checked out their Charcoal GT and wound up putting my name down for a blue one...

Congratulations.
I'm in North Central Arkansas

Actually, if you could see Kansas from the side, it's not flat. Going from east to west there is quite a bit of elevation change. Plus, I live about 30 minutes from the Ozarks.

Oregon is one of the few states I haven't ridden in yet. Thanks for the invite. You never know when I'll show up!

Thanks,

Rob

Thanks for the welcome.

As for the buzz, I'm beginning to believe that some people are 4 cylinder riders and others are 2. My RT is smooth up to 85/90 mph, over that you begin to feel the engine.

I'm sure that I'll get use to the 4. I owned a bunch of Suzuki 4's in the seventies and early eighties.

Best,

Rob
