K1200GT Accessory plug.

Well, None of my R1150RT stuff works on the GT. I have a Widder Electric vest, sleeves, gauntlets and chaps. None of them work, independently or together. My battery tender didn't work either, I had to buy another one at $135.00. What's the difference with this electrical system?

Thanks for your help.

The K1200GT has the new CANBUS system. This system was introduced on the new R1200GS and has been put on all the new bikes.

Your electric clothes should work. I have a BMW vest which I bought new about four years ago, and I used it last night. Works fine, and my bike is EXACTLY like yours right down to the color and the small topcase.

The canbus tute is a good read.

The short answer is that the accessory outlet is good for <5A. Most heated clothing
draws more than that. When that happens, the canbus shuts the outlet off. It sucks.
But the way around it is to install an outlet that is direct off of the battery (you may
want to or not, switch the outlet).

I have Kanetsu (sp?) vest from Aerostich that works with the canbus but my Gerbings
have to go direct to the battery.
