Anyone trade a 12GS for the GT

I'm interested in comments regarding comfort/ergos between the GS and GT. I'm thinking of trading in my GS for the GT this summer. I want something a little lower to the ground for the wife. Maybe a little better wind protection. How do the driver Ergos compare. Is the GT much sportier than the GS or is the riding position fairly upright? Does the GT feel heavier or does its lower cg nullify the additional weight? any comments appreciated.

i did JUST that
i do miss the gs at times
but..

the gs is

rocket-fast in comparison
sportier riding position.... but, adjustable
gs heavier.... but the pounds melt away at speeds over 5 mph
tons more wind protection
must better for 2-up travel

the gs goes off road
lighter
can be more fun
less hp means less problems with letting your wrist override your brain (if you know what i mean)

but...
the GT is an INFINITELY BETTER bike
trade in the gs and NEVER LOOK BACK

the "RAW" feeling of the boxer motor cannot be duplicated
but, the "ELECTRIC MOTOR" of the GT is unmatchable

I'm headed in the opposite direction. Selling my '04 GT so I can get a GS or GSA. I'm thinking I need both but for now, the swtich is in!

Best,

Yeah I do love the rawness of the boxer motor and I don't really need the HP/speed of the GT. Honestly, the RT would be a better bike for me but the looks just don't do it for me. I'm going to check the GT out at the NY motorcycle show this weekend.

Greg, I assume you meant to say that the GT is all of the above, not the GS?

I'm still teetering between a K1200GT and a R1200RT. Or maybe just a naked R1200R/K1200R with a windscreen. Or maybe the new K1200R Sport.

I've never owned a boxer engined vehicle. I currently am spoiled with my FZ1 and will find it hard to go backwards in the power department. I did it once before though. I traded my '90 CBR1000F in for a '99 SV650. I kept the SV for 7 years until I bought the FZ1. The SV only lasted a year after that before I sold it due to lack of use.

I guess you just narrowed your choice to the K1200R or K1200GT.

I own an 06 GT and decided to augment it with the recent adoption of an 07 GSA.

The bikes are complementary, but worlds apart.

I have 1 33" inseam, and can comfortably touch the ground on the GSA, but duck walking it backwards is difficult at times.

not really the OPPOSITE direction....
because you'd NEVER trade the '06+ GT for that GS...

i DO miss my GS... but, not enough to ever considering getting rid of what most of us here feel is the greatest bike BMW has EVER built
