K12GT washed ashore in England

I just saw on the NBC nightly news a report about a container ship that ran aground off England. In the story they showed a shot of people picking through loot of the washed up containers on the shore and lo and behold they showed a CGM K1200GT on the beach! They said someone got it and others!

I wonder how many BMWs were on that ship?

Mike

Oops! I just realized that I wasn't the first to post this. Sorry!

WEll mine is still on the water and due here on 30th.(I hope its not on a beach). If you see someone on the beach on TV running of with an 07 graphite GT with high windshield, stop them ,it could be mine. I,ll be checking mine over for barnacles and sea weed when it gets here.

In fact, all pics and vids I've seen showed a blue R1200RT, straight from the crate, without screen and without case lids.

The vessel was on its way to South Africa.

Nope, definitly the same RT. Look at the dash and mirror on the right side picture. The left one clearly shows the RT 'kidneys' and lampunit.

There were around 15 bikes AFAIK and I definitely saw a GT.
But are those bikes any good after salt water "bath"? Without keys and front wheel?

Take care!

I would think they would make the ST part of the catch and release program...i.e., no one would want it!

I feel sorry for it. It's lower fairing resting in the gravel and all. Sad really. Very sad. Those boys don't appreciate what they've got.

Not only do they not appreciate what they have, it they don't declare it with the authorities, they go to jail! Anything found on the beach from the containers can be a finders keepers but to avoid being charged with theft, you need to submit documentation on the items you "found" and have in your possession. Then you get first right to purchase. I trust the purchase price is based on insurance salvage rates. In any case, I wonder just how useful a saltwater swamped Beemer is. Making it road worthy again could be a serious and expensive challenge. 2007 KGT Rat Bike? Let's hope not!
