Introduction

Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been lurking for a bit now and thought it was time.

Last month I traded in my 2005 R1200 GS for an 07 K1200 GT. Can't say how happy I am with the new bike.

I loved the GS but for the type of riding I have been doing the GT is a much better fit.

As far as farkles all I have done is install a set of motolights and a Cee Baily's +4 +2 screen.

Welcome aboard, Brian. All us new GT owners can't stop smiling and I'm sure you'll be the same. Tell us how you stay warm!

Welcome Brian and glad you are enjoying the GT. A great bunch of guys on this website and lots of good information. I use this website and I-BMW.COM almost exclusively for a great mix of cameraderie AND information.

Ride safe and don't be a stranger!

My stay warm gear, I'm happy to say, is seeing less use these days. What it consists of primarily is long underwear, fleece shirt and pants, Aerostich windproof shirt, BMW heated vest. Over this I wear my Aerostich Roadcrafter one peice, Sidi/Aerostich combat lite boots, fleece lined wind triangle for my neck, Shoei RF-1000 helmet and finally elkskin gloves with silk liners.

All that stuff is for temps less than around 40 degrees.

With the warmer weather here I am wearing my BMW Ralley Pro II jacket and pants on long rides and the Roadcrafter for commuting.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the new GT. Being your neighbor (Minneapolis), I understand the Minnesota weather as of late. I picked up the '07 GT about a month ago. Due to the cold and snow...I was only able to sit on it in my garage making Vroom-Vroom sounds. That is...until last weekend!!!. I finally got it out for a run down to Maiden Rock area. I had an 'old' GT ('04) and wow...the 'new' GT is quite the bike! Anyway, I'll see you out on the trail. Are you a member of the MN BMW club (BMWMOCM)?

Not yet. I just got a flyer from a member of the Madison chapter about an upcoming ralley while at Bob's Cycle supply.

I'm relatively new to the Twin Cities. Where is Maiden Rock?
