Question version 7.9

Was at the dealership, changed tyres and oil after winter sitting and asked about upgrade.
The bike was wired to computer and I was told that it had version 7.9 factory installed :-)) and BMW does not allow to upgrade it to 8.0 free of charge.
Does anybody know about 7.9?? Or it was new invention of the dealer?
Oil cap was changed, cable(ignition) and centre stand checked.

Take care!

7.9?

Vladimir,as I write this my 06'GT is having the 3 recalls checked, and the
8.0 installed. Never heard mention of 7.9 from anyone. Tech may have been reading incorrect line of installed software. Only having the low speed/partial throttle issue,
I hope I made the right decision. My GT was 90% perfect , 100% may not be possible.
I hope not to lose that burst of acceleration that is so great. I'll let you know the results later.

3 recalls in the USA ?
hmm, I thought the only recall was for the oil cap thing.
What other "recalls" are there?

Thanks,
Larry

Another was some wiring issue around the ignition switch area which was abrading the loom or something.

Can't think of the third....??

I know they plastered a lot of torque stuff on the wheels on my service invoice. Luckily, I checked them myself when I changed the final's oil and they were so loose I could remove them one-handed without much effort.

Check the center stand.

I just had the 12,000 service mile done on my 06 GT.

Is it the reason I did not understand the forum complaints on jerkiness? :-))

@Phil : glad you like it. The bike is fantastic indeed. But I am really puzzled by 7.9?!
Will check with another dealer - it's good to have three of them in Moscow,
competition is a great thing!

The tyres costed US$400 for the set - Higher than in other shops but that was the unique set of Mez6 in the city for the moment. And we are in front of holidays due to the 1st of May here so I needed them to plan a good ride.

Take care!

I followed your joke and sent an e-mail enquiry to BMW (Faterland) - Motorrad :-))

Will they laugh at Russian thang or that will not be funny for them and for the dealer?

Version 7.9 for early '06 bike!! It's a pity I did not ask for the print-out.

Take care!

The end of the story:
Received e-mail reply from BMW Russia stating that the dealer was correct, the software update was not free of charge and more, should the customer insist on update and the update beeing done makes the warranty null and void.
The funny side of the story is that in the meantime I called at Munich( BMW Motorrad Zentrum) during our trip to the Alps and my bike was updated free of charge to ver.8.0.1 :-))

probably your were right about Russian thang

Take care!

Wow, Vladimir, you get to pay for the factory software update, which then voids your warranty? That would really suck.

I'd say your Munich detour was a very smart move.
