ASC retrofit (revisited)

Today I got my GT back from the retrofit of the ASC. My GT is a Sep 06 build, with the old type ECU, but with the i-ABS II (teves). What has been done:
- new ECU
- button added to the handle bar, left side (as on the picture in the manual)
- cable added from button to main harness
- changes made to harness to attach the new cable
- software v8.0 loaded

Now it really is full options
Next few days i'll be testing the bike to see if all went well.

At first, I was wondering if the ASC did anything useful. I tried it in a stretch of gravel construction, and it seemed OK but not very impressive. Later that day, I was accelerating from a stop in typically pouring Oregon rain and hit a railroad crossing. The bike made just the tiniest shudder twice then all was fine. Not that I would have gone down at that point, but the GT stayed perfectly stable and controllable. Just like ABS if you never need it then no big deal, but if it saves you once it's well worth it.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Hoi Frans,

Grtz,
Erwin

And all the English speaking guys wonder what you said....

Comes down to: "Erwin got an extremely good deal, since he only had to pay for the ASC option, rather than having to pay for the afterwards install of the option".
