Michelin Pilot Road 2

After 10.000 km I had Pilot Road 2's mounted (07 KGT) . I'm not sure it was the right choice.
The front is wobbling at 140 km/h. Feels like the front wheel is not attached properly.
I know from my former bikes that you have to give new tires some milage. The front wheel is balanced with 45 grams counter weight (1,6 ounce) just opposite of the tpm valve. That counter weight seems a little excessive. Maybe this is due to the dual compound of the tires
Any comments?

My wife has them on her F800ST and loves them.
45 g seem to be a lot - my rear Mez6 was given 40 g and I beleive it's too much.
The rim is O.K.? The air pressure?( sorry to ask that question) The bearing?
If everything is O.K. then give it 2-3 kkm and it will become better - though nobody can explain why.:-))

Take care!

I think you better have the balance rechecked . I had one installed on the rear of my KS,
Just came back home monday after 2000 miles with th wife on the back. Unbelievably great tire. I was chasing after some friends riding one up. They tried to loose me to no avail. First time I have no chicken strips on the tire. I did cup the front.(time for a new 2ct) When I had it installed they told me the tire was designed so perfect hardly any weight was needed to balance the tire.

Air pressure

Sorry guy's it is metric
The tpm reports 2,9 for the front and 3.0 for the back tire. According to the manual it should be 2,5 for the front and 2,8 for the back. But BMW tells this is due to the tpm not reporting the right values, according to the service guy they pressurized the tires correctly.
I should check that myself

Hi Andre,

45 grams for a front tire seems a bit much indeed!

Was the painted dot on the tire (on a Metzeler it's 2 red dots) mounted at the valve stem? Normally this is the side opposite to the heaviest part of the tire. You indicate the balance weight is at the opposite of the valve stem, which is funny, since that normally would be the heaviest part of the tire over there.

Another one: is the tire mounted in the correct direction? Most tires have a direction arrow on them...

Don't think the dual compound is the reason for the wobble though.

A few things to check here.

Hope this helps

Rgds

I just ordered a set just to do something different, after BT's and Z6's. I liked them on my RT.

Hey Easyman, does your wife like her ST, spacewife just ordered one, supposed to be here next month.

My 2ct did not have a dot for the valve stem . The installer stated there was no light spot with the 2ct so no dot.
