GPS maps for Cape Breton Nova Scotia

I have the BMW NavII + with all the North America maps preloaded.

Unfortunately it doesn't have any detailed maps of Cape Breton Nova Scotia, particularily around the Chetticamp and the park.

I'm led to believe that Garmin doesn't cover that part of Canada.. maybe Halifax but limited to that.

Anyone know for sure or could tell me what I need and where to get it?

Nova Scotia maps

I have the Garmin 2610 and City Navigator North America v6. As far as I can see, it has all the roads for Nova Scotia including Cape Breton. Perhaps you could get an update for your unit. Check with Garmin.

If you go to the town of Chetticamp and zoom in does it have the street names and the points of interest?? I bet it doesn't. Mine has the main streets but no points of interest or street names.

Halifax has everything, but I think the rest of NS is limited.

I've cross referenced the places of interest in Garmin MapSource, MS Streets& Trips, Google Maps and Google Earth. None of them show more than 1 restaurant, and no hotels. There are plenty of places of interest in Cape Breton, but there appears to be a conspiracy among the map makers to keep this from the general public.

Maybe that's why it's such a nice place to visit.

Isn't that strange??? I don't get it. I emailed Garmin and received no reply.

Luckily, the people in Nova Scotia are some of the nicest and most talkative that you'll meet. I think that after their long winters they must be starved for conversation. Maybe that's why they keep it a secret? They want us to stop and talk to them.

Thanks for checking on that.

hanso causeway

there is a canada tourist office right at the beginning of the cabot trail.

just go in there, get the road map, throw your gps in the tankbag and enjoy the ride.

you cannot screw up riding nova scotia.

look 4 hall's harbor and get a fresh cooked lobster of your choice.
