Loading maps 2610

Hi all, Im new to posting here, but being lurking for a year or so!
Just bought a 2610 & a 2gig cf card. I saw a link somewhere how to split up the entire NA maps & what files to transfer But can't find it now? :wtf

Can someone spoon feed on the best way to load up the card.

I'm going from memory here, but try the following.

I'm going to assume you have already installed MapSource and the NA maps on your computer (if not, you will need to do that first - follow the instructions that came with the software).

Once you've done that, you can use the "map" tool in MapSource to select the maps you want to load on the card. If you plan to load all of NA, then I suggest you zoom out the view of the map to a point where you can see all of NA. Then select the "map" selection tool (on the Tool bar it looks like a polygonal geometric shape and is just left of the "zoom" tool which looks like a magnifying glass with a + sign on top.

With the "map" tool selected you can then proceed to select all of NA or just the regions you want. They will appear in a list on the left hand side of the map (you should have four data tabs just left of the map area - if you don't see them, there is a little button there that will expose them. You will want the tab labelled "Maps"). At the bottom of the list of maps selected you will also see the amount of memory they will occupy on you CF card.

Once you've done this you can then transfer them to the GPS.

Plug the GPS in to the computer via USB cable. Turn it on and once it is recognised by the MapSource software you can select TRANSFER and SEND TO DEVICE on the menu options on top. Then simply select the option for maps and hit OK.

Give it a try.

Good luck.

Press Menu -> 'Options' -> tab 'General'
Press Menu again -> 'Disable remote'

Now the IR eye has been disabled. This way you also are free from the effects of sunlight....
