Consensus on GPS?

Sorry to ask this folks, but is there any level of general consensus on which GPS to buy? I'm at the point where stopping and consulting maps over and over is driving my ride satisfaction quotient wayyy down. Plus it's only cool when I'm moving.

Thanks in advance. John

Zumo 550.

Coming from a BMW Navigator II+, it is far ahead. Better sensitivity in canyons and foilage areas. Custom screens. Ability to share routes. Brighter screen. Up to 8 gigs of SD card storage for Audio Books, Mp3, other maps like Garmin Topo's, Jpegs, etc.). Works with gloves. Gasoline proof and weather proof too. Internal battery allows you to route off the bike while hold up in a motel room. Garmin has been providing quite a few firmware/feature updates so far.

Pretty good group over at zumoforums.com too. Lots of information an sharing going on there.

Major drawbacks so far are the rubber weather cap rotting, some connection issues with the cradle, and some units locking up. Garmin has been replacing defective units quite readily which is good from info on the forum.

Better and more updated BMW Dealers list too than what comes on their Navigators. Very happy with mine so far (I've had a cradle replaced due to rotting rubber).

+1 on the Zumo. It's great! I added the sat radio. It comes with integrated mp3 player. all you have to do is put mp3s on a SD card and insert.
I haven't had any lock up problems since I installed the latest software. Before that, it locked up 2 times and unlocked with a restart.
Chek the forum mentioned by GMack.

I'll second GMack's post. The Zumo is the best Garmin unit I've owned. My other choice would be the GPSMap 378/478 series. Better screen, buttons are fairly easy to use with gloves, but you loose the high sensitivity of the Zumo.

As I recall the 550 has Bluetooth plus XM Radio capability and MP3 capability.

I just bought a Zumo although I don't have the KGT yet. I'll be purchasing the XM Radio "Puck" as well. I've had a Garmin 2610 on my Gold Wing for a few years now and have been happy with that. Nicer screen on the Zumo, has battery capabililty, shows 3D routes, AND has music out.

Count me in as another ZUMO person. I've had a few gps' over the years and this one is great. Easy to use / read. I bought the 450 as I didn't care about Bluetooth. But the only difference is BT on the 550. The 450 does MP3's as well. Good support at the ZUMO forum, good tracking, etc etc.

I have a ZUMO and love it. Have the car mount in my jeep, with the XM and use it probably more there than on the bike.

Some here prefer other garmins x76, and 27xx or 28xx as there seems to be a lot more ways to display information and such, its more customizable, the 76's have better res.

I have the 2820 as the Zumo wasn't out when I purchased. Works great. Had a Street Pilot III for many years that worked great but was slow to recalculate and required a data card where the 2820 has all the information built in.
