XM to AK

Has anyone on here taken their XM (on bike) to AK? If so where did the sat. coverage end? or did it? I read online that in some parts of AK it works but its spotty.

Thankx in advance.

XM, being based off Geostationary satellites (Rock, Roll, and Rhythm) won't cover Alaska unless you use a high gain type parabolic antenna. (A Yagi would work too, as would a Quadfilar Helix properly phased and tuned)

Yes, you can get signal, but it won't be of use to a mobile user using the little antenna.

Sirius uses inclined elliptical orbits with multiple satellites (They make a figure 8 ground track), and actually advertise their service for Canada, so you shouldn't have a problem with their service in the GWN.
