Escort sound thru Autocom

I have bought the appropriate cables from Autocom for the 8500 and still get no sound. I have talked with Autocom and they talked me through a test to make sure the cables work correctly and they do, just not with the 8500. Any thoughts or suggestions before I chuck the whole thing and just buy a screamer?

You have an isolation cable between the two?

Just for kicks, have you tried plugging in a mono earphone into the radar unit to see if it indeed has an audio that you can hear? Reason I'm asking is on one of mine I had a speaker but no output through the earphone jack. Escort fixed it.

Which Autocom are you using? Some of the later ones like the Pro AVI use a 4-pole lead into them as well as the number one socket that is a "9 volt out" powered socket which could fry the audio out jack of the Escort by feeding the 9 volts into the earphone jack.

If you plug in another sound source into the same autocom aux, do you get sound? Do you have a second cable you can use? I had sound with a regular 2-pole, 2-pole cable. i then bought the isolator since I had all the background noise.

I have the AutoCom Pro AVi. Looks like I will need to run down to Radio Shack and get a couple of cheap ear pieces for testing.

Yeah, I do get audio through the AutoCom from other sources.

I'll let you know what I discover when I finish checking the output again. I would hate to think I fried the audio output.

I hope you have their red-box isolator between them One side is mono, the other side is stereo. It has a single 4-pole male lead on the end.
