V1 sound cuts out

I have my V1 hard wired on my 04 K12RS. The output is plumbed through the remote sound doohickey under the seat and then into an Autocom, via a splitter (from Autocom,) with GPS in the other side. Everything works well... for a while, then the Radar seems to go on permanent mute. I see it going off, the sound is up all the way, but nothing in the speakers.

This is the second remote sound unit with similar results. Anyone had this? any ideas?

Thanks,
Allan

The remote has 2 volume control knobs stacked on top of each other. The second one is the mute volume for lack of a better term. Have you checked that both controls are turned up?

Thanks for the idea. I have the volume maxed and mute setting turned down so that I don't have to continue to listen to the warning one I've acknowledged it. I have ruled out the the mute button on the remote is continuously held down by the seat because that would cause the logic mode to continuously change.

A a long time user of a V1 with an Autocom my best guess is that the conectors (phone style) are shot, unless it's an Autocom issue but they are pretty reliable. Anyway first clean all the contacts even though they are gold they can and do get corroded. Next if you have the tool for terminating the phone wire ( radio shack sells it) recrimp the conectors. Last when the system is acting up get a know good cable and subsitute it at each link in order to determine which cable is bad. Then cut off the phone plug (s) and reterminate with new conectors. And of course make sure the grounds are good.
