Any one have an Iradar for the iPhone?

It's a cobra product. Very inexpensive in comparison, does that mean it's unreliable and badly constructed? Lol. Looking to by a decent system when I came across this and where I have installed an iPhone already l, this looks handy.

So, my question. Is it reliable? Does it cover every thing a regular one will? Water resistant? Thank you for helping me through this process

I've seen it and been curious about it as well, but after having my iPhone overheat and shutdown in 105F heat for about 45 min, I'm not sure I want to exposure my phone like that again. I had it mounted on a RAM mount by the handlebars and I think a combination of ambient temps and heat from the engine coming up between the forks damn near cooked it. I actually got a little yellow triangle on the phone and a warning message about the phone shutting down and it would not be usable until it cooled down. I've never seen that happen before.

I'm using an Escort 8500 with a headsup display (wireless LED in the helmet:http://www.legalspeeding.com/HARD.htm) and am quite please with the setup.

How did you protect your 8500 from the inclement weather ? I'm on two wheels every day, and I also ride pretty hard. I have one in my car that doesn't see much use unless it's snowing out....

Well, unfortunately it doesn't rain that much around here so I don't have to worry too much about it. But, I have been known to put a baggie over it in a pinch. They do make waterproof housing for a lot of the detectors. Check http://www.legalspeeding.com/radarbox.htm

iRadar

I have one mounted in my BMW cage. The linking in of the iPhone is fantastic - The system continually learns about areas where speed traps have been reported and alerts you based on other users previous reports. (Police can be creatures of habit) The system reports about every type of radar and instant on I encounter here in the Midwest - the system also learns where there are speed control and intersection cameras.

A great value for the price - not weatherproof - I've not mounted on my bike yet, but will.

However, it should in no way be associated with that great body of factual information relating to orthodox Zen Buddhist practice. It's not very factual on motorcycles, either."
