radar visual alert

What experience has anyone had with the MarcParnes LED visual alert for the Valentine.....I'm getting tired of being hooked up with wire/ear plugs all the time....

I've got it on my Escort and it always catches my eye. The trick is to mount the LED's high enough to your line of sight. Mine (on a K/S) is velcrod above the RID on the instrument panel. I've also got a dark tint wind screen which allows it to be seen more easily. I'm happy with my set-up.

Talking You have a choice to make ...its a flip

I use a AvantGuard Radar Mount ( P'irates' Lair ) so it shines right at my eyes. However earplugs is foolproof.

Also check out the www.legalspeeding.com unit. Works great with my 8500.

Poor Luck with Marc Parnes Visual Display

I have an 04 K12GT and use an Escort X50 on the K-mount, which places the unit well above the instruments in the center-line of the bike. I've mounted the Parnes unit on top of the detector, and velcroed it in a couple of other locations. In bright sunlight, it typically doesn't get my attention. I'm surprised since it is a well made unit and is very bright, as long as you get the LED's pointed correctly at you, since they are somewhat directional. I believe it should work well if you get the unit high enough and in your field of vision. I just didn't want to mount it at the top of my windshield.

I considered other alternatives, but didn't want to go with the H.A.R.D system, and have resisted getting an Autocom type system so I could hear the alarms in my in-ear phones, since I have enough gadgets to worry about. I just installed the Radar Screamer, which is a piezo speaker that I mounted to the right of my gauges. I installed a toggle switch (High volume, low volume, and off positions) near the left clutch reservoir. So far so good and easily heard at speed with the iPod going. I was concerned about driving through town with the thing going off, but the supplied toggle switch is a nice feature - just don't forget to turn it back on!

I just installed my new 9500i mount I got from that Pirate....for my 06 K12S.

It goes on the clutch reservoir...I don't really like anything on my bars but this was doable and looks great.

Now if I could just see the display, heheh....I can with a little twist but it takes way too much effort.

I'm going to try the earbud next but I'm worried about noise without good ear plugs...I can't hear for 2 days after if I dont' use ear plugs on long rides.

I'm also a little worried about the clutch res taking all that abuse but I hear there are alum aftermarkets reservoirs so what the hell, I like the mount so we'll see what happens.

So I'm in the same boat, I'll go cheepest first (ear bud), if I don't like that, it will be either the hard system or maybe the speaker, which I don't much like the idea of. I'll know in another week or two.

One day I'm thinking about a dark screen with the RD mounted right near the top with some sort of velcro strap or something...thats what I'd like best, long as I can still view my instruments too.

Has anyone tried the Vizalert Helmet Display?

I noticed several posts about the H.A.R.D. helmet display system for radar detectors, but has anyone tried the Vizalert system? (http://www.delonixradar.com.au/radar.../vizalert.html) It appears to be far superior than the H.A.R.D. system because:

- it shows which band is clocking you
- it shows the radar signal strength
- it has an adaptor to connect a laser jammer

Can anyone provide some feedback about this system?

I posted this in another thread last week. I mounted the main unit beneath the fairing on the K1200R Sport. The detector has no trouble seeing through plastic. It is also mostly out of the rain with this install.

Here

As you can see, the mount is right where you look the most. I have a Remus Powercone and I can still faintly hear the unit when it goes off. I also wear earplugs.

hope this helps,

H.A.R.D. System installation from legal speeding

Has anyone installed this in their helmet. I am concerned about eliminating some of the padding in the installation and maybe tearing apart my helmet liner and padding to get it in. It does not look that easy from the pictures on the legal speeding website. How difficult is it and are you happy with the result?
