Cheap bike-to-bike como idea....

I have a pair of Motorola GRMS radios and have brainstorming a cheap bike-to-bike como idea… a cheap set of headsets with attached mics mounted inside my helmet. Now I know there are great systems out there (like autocom), but thanks to the IRS, my extra income for the next few months will be going to Uncle Sam. I think this may work for now. Has anyone tried this? Suggestions?

For a little more...

For less than $60, you can get a full harness (two headphones, mic, and handle-bar mounted PTT switch) that fits the Motorolas (Motocomm). That way you can operate the system without taking your hand off the grip.

We've used Motorolas with a mix of Kenwood and Chatterboxes: you have to find a common frequency and can't use the "privacy" settings but rarely did we get any interference.

I use the BlueAnt Interphone. They're cheap ($100 each) and allow bike to bike or to phone connection. I like my the pair I have. They work up to 500 feet apart if you give one to a fellow rider. Plus, they keep your conversations private. That's great for when you're getting yelled at by the wife for going too fast no one else will know and therefore a potential for less humilation.
