Last Post

Dear All - this is my last post as I have just traded in my K75S for an R1100RS.
Basically - I LOVE it!

Differences noted so far:
Feels more like a motorcycle - loads of character.
Handling and manouvering easier due to lower C of G
Less wind noise

Not as smooth as the K, and idle not so regular.
Lovely torque twist when you blip throttle due to flywheel inertia.
Seat wider and more comfortable - missus likes it better!
Easier to get on Centre Stand

Loads more to find out, but the bottom line is - I'm not looking back

So how do you REALLY feel about the R1100? Congrats on advancing from 80's technology to the 1990's!

Awesome bike to step up to. Just rode one about two weeks ago and I really enjoyed it. Going to ride a R1200GS to Bend this weekend.

Sorry you got rid of the "Brick" BUT at least you stayed in the BMW family. The guy I got my K100RS from bought a Jap bike and wishes he had purchsed an F800GS instead. Claims to miss the BMW reliability. Told me the purchase price and repairs to date are just over that of a 2010 800GS purchase, and he has had it only 2 years.

Anyway. Enjoy.

Haha, nothing like some K vs R thread to get peoples blood flowing

Comparing a 750 to a 1100 is rough at best. I don't think i'd enjoy the 750 as much as a bigger displacement bike either

Oh and my 85 k100 has about the same hp and torque

Just teasing, glad your liking the new bike. Any pics?

Was just reading the thread over again and find it funny that CHAOS noted the move from '80's technology to '90's. Only BMW riders can say that about an '80's vintage BMW. The rest of the guys out there are just now getting a taste of what BMW riders have been able to take for granted since the '80's:

I.E.

ABS
Electronic Fuel Injection (That works great 99% of the time.)
Advanced Engine Spark Management
Suspession Geometry thought not possible on most bike designs (Granted... Spring rates aren't the best out there.)
Stock seats seemed more enjoyable than other manufactures. (I have a Russel upgrade)
Parts that are still available from your dealer more than four years after production

You guys that ride the '90's bikes got to step up to a BMW that has refined all of that just a bit more.

All I can say is BMW's are awesome bikes even though not perfect.

A K bike to an R Bike - you'll be stopping more to pee as well from the vibrations on an R. I would have gone to a R1100S or R1200S - welcome to the '90's as well.
