K75 instrument panel removal

To remove the instrument panel I have to disconnect the wiring loom.

I don't think I should need to be rough and I can't figure how this connection breaks apart. Does it snap off? Slide off? Whats with the round headed bolt? Do I have to butcher it?

Snip those little zip ties and slide the black center part up.

Hmmm

Thanks FlyingDuck
Well I snipped the cable ties but nothings coming free.
I also removed the round headed bolt but found it only holds down a central cover. Taking off the cover just exposes the individual wires going into the cluster.

None of this is letting me remove the loom from the cluster.
I can't see how that plug is supposed to come off. Is it on a track and slides back? Or is it a male connector pressed into a female socket at the bottom of the cluster?

I'm trying to be gentle. Maybe too gentle?

Ah huh. For the benefit of anyone else trying this. Its a male plug. Gently prise it up and off.

While you have the instrument panel off you should strongly consider upgrading (at least the backlighting) to LEDs.
I just did mine and I really like the new look.
And the reliability is noteworthy as well.

Just an unsolicited opinion...
