Rear Brake Master Cyl leak

I own a 92 K100RS (32K) that is leaking and has some 'crust" build up where the rubber boot is housed over the cylinder. How do you know if you can just disassemble and clean the component parts or whether you need to replace them?

Apparently it have started to leak a bit, so the best long term solution would be to get a repair kit.
Also check/clean the bore.
