Visible wear on Hall Effect Sensor on '94 K75RT with 70k

Hello all, first post here. Relative noob to the K75, purchased it one year ago and have really enjoyed it, and found all the info here very, very helpful as well.

On the return leg of a recent trip, from MN to MO, I had an unpleasant development wherein the bike started to occasionally and intermittently "buck" or stall out / stumble / hesitate whilst cruising on the interstate or just around town during start and stop driving. The engine would always catch and resume power after a fraction of a second.

It was similar to what you'd expect with occasional bits of moisture in the fuel. Or intermittently failing injectors or spark plugs.

I *think* I have fixed the problem, I found corrosion between the TPS terminals that was potentially shorting and telling the FI computer that the throttle had been closed and to shut off the injectors (since rpms were up above 2000 whilst driving). The problem has not returned, but then again, I haven't gone on a long trip since cleaning the terminals.

While digging for the cause, I came across some visible wear on the Hall Effect Sensor, which I understand is not supposed to happen, since there is an air gap where the circular rim with the windows spins between the magnets and "detectors".

The wear is the inside of both "detectors" (the components that are mounted towards the outer edge of the mounting plate). It consists of some holes in the thin black plastic exterior that has been worn away to expose the white plastic material that the detector must be made out of (I assume there is some sort of semiconductor material embedded in that white plastic?). So, essentially, you can see a couple small white "spots" on the inside edge of each detector. I assume some grit got in there and got ground to dust between the spinning window-rim and the detectors.

My question is, do you all suppose this HES is just waiting to fail at this point? I was thinking of purchasing a replacement to carry with me, in case that fails in the middle of a trip. I've seen some posts about replacing the individual sensors from Honeywell, but I can't seem to find them currently for sale anywhere. Has anyone purchased those recently, could you point me in the proper direction? And if anyone has some tips on removing the old sensors from the mounting plate and riveting in new ones with out tearing it all up, I'd certainly appreciate that advice as well.

Just a very generalized comment. Aren't the rotating parts (with the magnets) usually attached to the crank? If there is wear on the surface of the fixed sensor then this can only be down to 3 things. Either the crank bearings are worn, some crud has got inside the cover and minced up the surface of the sensor or the rotating plate is damaged and running off center..
