Although in a former life I was an EMT and firefighter this is by no means a professional recommendation. Just what I carry.

1) Assortment of band-aids and butterfly bandages
2) several 4x4 pads
3) Bee sting antiseptic
4) Super glue
5) Motrin and Aspirin
6) Ace bandage
7) EMT Shears
8) Good tweezers (medical not beauty)
9) Forceps
10) #12 Blade Scalpel
12) Baking soda (only in case of really profuse bleeding)
13) Hemorrhoid cream or lanacane (good for road rash pain)

All this fits in a small zippered bag not much bigger than a shave kit.

I went a took a look and noticed that I for got a few things.

- Triple antibiotic ointment
- Alcohol prep pads
- "Wound cleansing pads" (an iodine laced wet pad to clean out a cut)
- Generic maxi-pad (awesome for putting over a big cut and the adhesive strip makes it easy to fix in place).

-over the counter benadryl for rash, insomnia
-for far north trips, deet bug dope, for south of the border, water purification tablets
-if on medications, a second small stash for emegencies
-pain meds,antihistamines/sudafed
-safety pins- to hold dressings together, emergency large wound closure, to turn a long sleeve shirt into a sling by pinning the cuff to the body of the shirt, to hold the tongue out of the way during seizures or cpr (with facial trauma)
-antibacterial soap for wound care/neosprin cream for after care
-duct tape works great as part of an emergency splint, lets you ride home with broken fingers, etc
-a record of the rider(s)' medical problems, allergies, medications
-a few 4x4 guaze dressings, skin tapes, bandaids, superglue for small, clean wound closures
-whatever tools you feel comfortable using on other humans
