Question Why turn the suit inside out to wash?

Heard that at the dealer. Didn't question it though.

I normally remove all the armor and zip it all up before washing, but what is the advantage of turning the suit and pants inside out - if it matters at all?

All the bug splatter and mess is on the outside of my gear.

I would only use a horizontal tub washer to do a riding suit. Much easyer on the garmet.

Its the part that touches you-maybe you'd want that cleaner?

Like the others, I can't think of a reason. OTOH, if hanging it outside to dry, inside out would reduce sun fading.

The most sensible I recently heard is that the reflectorized 3M fabric will abrade and flake off against the tub or agitator as well as some of the embellished metal BMW emblems and painted rubber shoulder patches.

Maybe that's it?

I have been using a Maytag Neptune horizontal washer for many years...all my clothing lasts longer than when I used a vertical tub type washer. I would wash the riding suit in a large horizontal tub at a laundry-mat.

I have heard it is to protect, logos, patches, silk screens, and other parts of the suit not made of the main fabric.

Smart ass answer: 'cause the stinky part is on the inside! Face it, the outside it just going to get bugs and stuff on it again...

but really my guess is it's probably as much to keep the pockets and zippers and stuff from getting hung up on your machines as anything else.
