Conti Road Attack 2 or Avon Storm 2 Ultra?

My new K13GT came with Bridgestone BT020's and I want to swap them out for a better handling tire.

I have heard good things about the Avon Storm @ Ultras, but the Conti Road Attack 2's look good also.

Any suggestions between the two?

I've use the Conti Road Attacks for years. It is one of my favorites.

Avons

I prefer the Avons plus you'll get about 1-2K more miles depending on your riding style.

Mine came with Metzeler Z6 Interacts.... Do they install different tires depending on where the bike is sold?

Tires +

My last 3 new K-bikes have come with different (Metzler, Michelin, Bridgestone) mfrs tires mounted. Over the years I have tried to use each new compound as it is introduced on the market that seems to fit mountain carving/fwy touring. The only negative has been the Z6 as I never felt stable; poor feedback through the corners. Removed it before 4K miles.
The last Bridgestone 023 only lasted about 4700 miles.with the PR2s surviving between 5K and 6K miles. I always replace front and rear together as they both are worn (below wear bars) out at that time.
Currently, I am running the Road Attacks with just over 1500 miles and all is well. They hook up predictably, give good confidence in snow melt wet and provide excellent feedback through corners. Life is yet to be determined. Just my $.02 worth.
Ride safe and swiftly to all.

If it was me my top two choices would be either the new Michelin Pilot Road 3, or the new Metzeler Roadtec Z8.. Never been a big Bridgestone, or Avon fan, just my $.02

skip the conti's, you'll end up in jail!

what a great tire, all 4000 (barely) miles of them, made me feel 20 yrs younger (not allways a good thing). My K13S was like a go-cart.

one of my all time favorites so far too, I just can't use a 4k mile tire right now I do that in a few weeks or less at times

Tire Update

Thought I would post an update to the Road Attack tires. At less than 4K miles they were worn out. Decided to install the Dunlop Road Smarts and am (at the moment) quite happy with just over 3,200 miles logged in all types of late spring weather. The Dunlops have provided good confidence and a good wear pattern all about the tires. Will probably consider the PR3 at the next (2k miles?) change.
Ride safe to all.
