Tires for cross country

What thoughts about tires to hold out on a cross country, ie 6-8+K miles, mostly main roads. I'm very satisfied with Z6 performance, but will likely be without much twisties.........and would like to make it on one set of tires.

Hi,

Long distance champs are Metzler 880's.
You can easily get 8-10K out of a set.
Some don't think they are sporty enough for a K12 but I've had no issues and am on
my second set.

A set of Avon 45/46's would work well for your trip.

pilot roads

I'll second the pilot roads! I put about 8000 miles on a cross country trek last summer. They worked great, even in the twisties all loaded.

He's right. They'll get you the best miles, but they're not sporty enough for a K12. I ran them on a K75S for several years, did lots of miles. But when I switched to a softer Bridgestone B-45 I started having a lot more fun on the bike.

For the one trip, they'd be OK. But don't make it a habit.

Everyone has a different experience, of course, but I had Metzler Z's and just got the
Avons put on. What a difference. Much more assured, and lean farther without even thinking about it. Having more fun than ever.

I have over 10K on my Avons and they still have some life left. They have been truly amazing. However, I am contemplating Road Attacks just for comaprison- plus I find the tread design interesting. After they wear out, I will buy which one of the two gives me the best mileage/handling bang for the buck.

tires

i went cross country on my original z4's and didnt replace them until 16k miles. secret? 40psi in front, 44psi in rear. eliminates heat, main enemy of tires.............
