M3 Sportec update

Almost 7,000 miles on 'em so far and still look pretty good....mostly highway miles....last set was Pilot Powers....I think they're very comparable, wet and dry....only one thing I noticed was the M3 reacts more to rain grooves....going back to the Powers on next set to confirm that....still don't know if or where the wear indicators are....anybody know?

How many miles did you get from the Pilot Powers??? I was only able to get about 3700 from mine but that's on an S So I switched to Pilot Roads.. Would love to find stickier tires that I could get many 5K from.

Nope...won't last that long for most of us! Got 2500 avg out of M1, 1900 or so out of PP and now the M3 will last probably till 3K. 50% longer for the M3 as claimed...nope, again!

Still a great tire, wear notwithstanding.

Dude!
Do you take an extra set of tires along when you ride?
Tire makers are lovin' you!

Oh, I thought I told you...I own Metzeler

Actually, looking at the M3 a bit ago while I was washing the S, the rear won't get to 3K like I thought. But the interesting thing as compared to the M1, the front will go about that claimed 50% longer. On the M1 they were both shot at the same time. It's probably acedemic anyway since I'll probably have to change them both since the front will be too worn as compared to the rear.

Gotta go now...off to order some tires!

Unfortunately, I'm with Loggiebone on this one - I get right around 2800-3000 miles on my tires on the S.

And yes, the tire makers definitely love us at over $300 a set for our tires.

I'm currently trying out the M3's too, hoping they will run a bit more than my last three sets of Bridgestone Battlax.

I ride my k1200s pretty hard, no chicken strip on rear, 1/8" on front

BT014 1700 miles, M3 1900 miles, both SHOT at this point. Both great traction. Now I put on Z6, we will see. So far pretty good grip.

Holy Sheet!! I'm like 2xm3, my rear M3 will be gone at 2000 miles. No strips on the rear and almost none on the front. The front, ironically is wearing much better than most fronts of any kind of tire I've ever used....strange. The rear...wearing like a sport bike tire put through it's paces.

I don't see how some of you get such high mileage out of an M3 even riding them as easy as possible. But, there's a lot I don't know (did I say that?)

I do live in the Smoky Mtns. though and the twisties are heaven at the end of my driveway. I really do like the M3's on my K1200R though. They stick like glue and are very predictable and confidence inspiring. They're a great sport riding tire.

I'm on my 4th set of M3's and I get ~4500 out of a set. For me it did seem to give about 50% more than an M1..But...With numbers this low a 50% improvement is not really anything to crow about!
