Neutral light out/2nd gear light is displayed

the neutral light is not illuminating when in neutral. it displays as though it is in 2nd gear.
i have tried a couple things but have had no luck with it.
if i put the kick-stand down the engine kills.
anyone have any clues?
the bike rides and shifts normal.
yeh, i know; make an appt. with the dealer.

went for a brief sprint to the store yesterday.
started the bike to leave the store and the neutral light was back working and after arriving home it still functioned properly.
i don't know but will watch for the next occurrence.

Looks like the jist of the above post was that the gear indicator switch is not waterproof.

An overaggressive powerwash may have caused a temporary short. Once the switch dries out, your indicator works again.

The wiring diagram was very interesting. That's for the new K-S, R, and R-sport?

The table was my summary from the wiring diagram for my early KRS which I subsequently proved as I tested for my fault.

Water is a likely culprit, but if water is getting into a connection eventually the problem will still have to be resolved by finding and cleaning connections.
