Left hand switch cluster - '06 K1200R

ok you guys i need assistance with this before i go cutting wires.

i have a left hand switch cluster that was removed from a K1200S with ESA.
my bike (K1200R) does not have ESA.
what i want to do is use the ESA switch as an auxiliary switch for driving lights.
the switch being part of the CANbus system will need to be taken out of the loop so as not to interfere with the CANbus system.
how do i disconnect this ESA switch but still make sure the loop is connected to the other two switches and emergency light on the cluster.
any help is much appreciated.

I started on a wiring diagram for the KR. But stopped due to lack of interest.

Search wiring diagram... I think I completed the left handlebar switch. (But I didn't have ESA)

I've got it at home.

I'll post it up tonight.

It should be pretty easy.

The only thing is the wires are REALLY small gauge. Driving a higher load may be problematic. Running off a relay may be best.

So my bike doesn't have ESA either.

If you cut into the wiring harness, about 12 inches from the connector, you'll see two wires that just end (basically they are two cut ends) in the wiring harness. It's the Purple/Blue and Brown/Light Blue wires. You'll have to check which one of these two is connected to the ESA button.

But they are already cut in the wiring harness if you don't have ESA.

Hope that helps.

Oh yeah. And remember that the entire switchgear SHARES one power wire. You will NOT be able to drive lights off the switch directly. Get a relay. And to protect the rest of the circuit maybe even a diode protected relay. A regular relay may spike voltage and fry the canbus. Google it.

Good luck and remember there is nothing to fear except Canbus.
