Battery help

Can someone tell me where the battery is located on a 1004k1200rs and what is the best way to access it? Also, about how long should the battery last on this model/ Thanks.

You mean a 2004 ? It is under the seat, These batteries should be replaced every 3 years as they lose it's capapcity to hold a fulll charge from normal usage after this period of time. They could last longer if you are in a warm climate. Why take a chance, change it. It is cheap insurance.

Actually, under the seat, and then under the tool-tray that you see once you remove the seat. Inbetween the fuel tank and the charcol evaporation canister, next to the ABS brain. Negative to the front, positive to the rear.

Battery access

Thanks. I can't see how to remove the plastic panel that is under the tool kit. This must cover the battery.

If you mean the plastic tray that holds the tool roll, then it is just pushed down with plastic pegs underneath and at the end of the tray pushing into rubber grommets. A sharp tug should remove it, then you'll see the battery underneath.

If you put some silicon grease around the pegs before replacing the tray, it will come out easier next time.
