Final Dive leak

I returned from a 900km trip today and discovered "sweating" fome the plastic retainer on the final drive housing (left hand side if seated). I'm not sure f there is a seal behind this plastic section, but if there is, is it a simple procedure to do it myself, or should I take it to BMW? I have a '05 K1200s with 31 000k's on the clock.

Too much oil? Seems they lowered the oil levels a bit on the GT's from 230 to 180 ml.

On the older finals (90's) they had a pressure relief on the top of the final. I don't see that on the new ones. I know when I popped the oil fill plug on mine I heard a "Whoosh!" so I think there was too much pressure in the final drive's oil expansion.

Might want to pop the final drive oil fill plug and see if you hear any "Whoosh!" and then try it again if you did.

Most of the drives except the newer (sealed for life, if you believe them drives), have a vent on the top which has a black push on cover. Inside there should be a small plug of foam. There should be no whoosh or back pressure. Don't overfill with oil which can lead to the foam getting plugged.
