General Brake Warning (2003 K12RS)

Hey, I have a general warning (solid light) but I checked the bulbs, switches and everything is working fine. The Clymer book does not help in determining what is the cause. Has anyone had this problem before? How did you correct it?

Thanks,

Probably a burned out brake lamp filament.
On a K1200 the only way to check for a burned filament is to remove the red plastic lens and look closely to see the brake filament glow.
A burned lamp will also effect your cruise control operation.

If a tail light filament is burned out, the brake lamp filament will automatically dim to act as a rear running lamp, also operate as a normal brake lamp at the same time and throw a general warning signal.

That was it! With the brake light still appearing to work correctly, the filament was burnt out for the running light. Pretty clever how BMW can compensate for a defective bulb.

Thanks for the help! Mrlifts
