Question Next Clutch Phase - Push rod?

After endless messing around I finally got the frame/engine support sorted out. I have the engine on bricks and wood, the left frame on a hydraulic jack, and the right on a screw jack. For back up I have a strap and come-a-long supporting the frame from a rafter.

Questions: Was I supposed to have removed the push rod before removing the transmission? And when replacing, do I insert the rod after installing the transmission, or before?

The tranny is out!!

Merci Beaucoup. I knew I did it wrong. Pulling the tranny over that shaft was interesting.
