Oil change, how much metal in the your oil
I changed the oil in my 2011 K1300 S bike at 600 miles and then again at 2260 miles and there is quite a bit of metallic particles in the oil.
The 600 change had quite a bit and so does the second change.
I used BMW dino for the 600 mile and just put in Valvoline 10W40 dino for the 2260 change
I took the filter apart and there are what looks like aluminum bits in the filter since they dont stick to a magnet.
The pieces are long and thin not many but still visible about 2mm long and 1/2 mm wide possibly pieces of the clutch basket.
Is this normal?
I try to start the bike in first and move off,
also i try to limit the amount of neutral to first gear start offs ,
since there is such big engagement jolt,
this being the clutch basket slamming to a stop once a gear is selected,
otherwise the trans shifts fine and there are no other funky noises coming from the engine
Could it be from the clutch and basket wearing?
This is my first K bike so i dont have a lot of info to go on.
My R1150 GS doesnt make metallics like this K bike does.
I would be interested to hear what others have seen
