Handlebar Width DIY / Leverage
New to this forum..
I want to widen my standard handlebars of a í87 K100rs with an inch on each side, simply a bit more leverage in the tight corners.
My idea is to cut the handlebars in half, place a connecting bar with a smaller diameter (well) into the 2 halves and welled it.
- Most stress (braking, steering) is on the handlebar ends so I donít want to mess with the ends. The least amount of stress is on the straight part between the mounting clamps.
- Moreover these bar-ends hold a bushing for mounting the weights.
- Tried a K1100rs bar; worked fine in terms of width, but found them too high. (already adjusted cables& brakeline)
- Donít want to purchase new bars without having a try on these.
Couldnít find much info on this, so maybe a really bad idea?
Thx in advance,
