I have a 2007 K1200GT with just over 75,000 miles. The cam chain tensioner failed and the chain jumped off as the guides broke. I have not taken the motor apart yet but I guess I can be pretty confident I did some damage to the head and valves.

I have a friend with 2012 K1300S that threw a rod and has a good head, would the head be the same and would I be able to use the 1300 head on the 1200? Any help would be appreciated. I am in Florida but my bike is ion upstate New York and I just do not have a lot of money to throw at it.

According to this, yes.
But you will have to strip your engine and check conrods and pistons for damage/cracks.

There will definitely be trashed valves and potential piston cracks. When that happened to mine, the pistons were okay.
Everything in the valve train had to be replaced as well as the head.
