2003 K12gt Clutch Problem

My 2003 K12gt Seems To Have Clutch Slip,(sometimes), Primarily Higher Gears. I Have Approx 32k Miles.......is This Normal For 32k? Can Anything Be Done Other Than A New Clutch? Thanks, Drjohn_77

You need to do some searching here as there are many posts on this subject. There is nothing you can due to adjust the clutch.

It's a moot point that the clutch slips, but this is often due to oil leaking from the clutch slave or the engine seals. The result is still the same, an expensive repair due to time and effort getting to the clutch. Have a look underneath with the belly pan off and see if you can see traces of oil on the clutch housing join.

As long as you don't try doing burnoffs, you can probably get away with it for a short while, whilst you plan the dealer trip and budget.

Plan on a new clutch and no help from BMW

My 2003 GT is in the shop as we speak for a new clutch.... I have a 2003 as well and only 10K miles... I need a new replacement... My advice is to go to the NHTSA and file a complaint. This issue is discussed so often that a recall really should be in order.

Tom,

While they're in there, have them replace the rear engine main seal and the transmission input seal. Few ˘ in parts and maybe 1-1½ hour labor.
When the clutch slips, and they renew the slave cylinder, there's a chance the fluid had been leaking into the area with the two mentioned seals. IF they get contaminated, they WILL fail...and you're pulling parts apart once again. For a clutch to fail at 10k, it's usually slipping because of engine oil (leaky main) or transmision oil (input shaft seal). Regardless if it's BMW's cost or yours, you'd be better off with all three being done while things are apart.
