It is an excellent muffler. Great looks and sound. Performance improvements are minimal... maybe a few lbs and hp's. Went with just the silencer versus full pipe system for BMW boxer stock headers tend to be very efficient. Plus, liked the look of the fat R12S headers. Would get this exhaust again without hesitation. Another R12S rider here locally has the same exhaust and is equally pleased.

Running the BMW version with the DB killers taken out. Still is not loud. Perfect IMO, and much finer than stock. I consider appearance, sound, and performance when giving an exhaust consideration. Personally give this exhaust top shelf honors for appearance and sound. The performance gain is very marginal. This is OK. BMW sporting boxers are already very efficient and optimized in stock form. Would get the exhaust again but do believe it is overpriced -- Akrapovics tend to be very pricey regardless of bike, and especially so with this S.
Thanks for the advice. I bought one today. It appears there are two bolts (one each side) on the bottom of the muffler with rubber caps over them. Are those the bolts to remove the two inserts?
