Thanks for the pictures. Interesting that they'd come out with a bit of competition for the R1200GS, but glad they did. Should be a tad bit lighter.

Also noticed, like the 800S and 800ST, no front fork adjustments at all. If they're going to use conventional forks, they're going to have to start thinking about 21st century suspensions.

Looks like an USD fork to me. I think that's definately an improvement. Most GS riders don't offroad them anyway! I'm willing to bet that there is at least front spring pre-load adjustment. Nice bike btw

This could be trouble. I was eyeballing a KTM 640, but this could be the ticket.

More pics, including with sidecases mounted, here: http://www.slideshare.net/sierrabmw/...cles-f-800-gs/

Sierra Cement: Good for skis, bad for knees.

Thing is, though, even if you never take it off-road, you practically have to re-engineer the existing suspension to get it right for you on the road. Adjustible pre-load would be a step in the right direction, but I'll bet the rebound will need more damping right out of the factory.

I'm confused

In one picture...the new GS has dual front brakes.....then in the other two pics...just a single rotor??? I would assume that the new 800GS has dual front brakes since it's no longer a single cylinder.

The last two photos are of the F650GS with the single rotor. The F800GS has dual rotors.

Yup. No idea how they're going to differentiate the single vs. twin in discussions other than the year.

Kind of like the K1200GT.
