1st long trip on R1200GSA

Ive just completed a 12 day 5000klm trip around south eastern Australia and Tasmania on an 07 R1200GSA that i picked up only a few weeks before I left.
I had planned to do the trip on my K1200GT but some unpleasant noises from a newly installed clutch a week before departure convinced me to give the GSA a run.
Overall I am extremely impressed with this bike. I am a big guy, 6 foot tall and 240lbs.
The bike was comfortable, surprisingly spirited and agile and an overall fun experience.
I can see why BMW sell so many of these things.
Tasmania is motorcycle heaven with thousands of kilometers of twisty and winding roads.
I did one run down the west coast from Strahan to Hobart which was around 300 kilometers and there wouldnt have been a piece of straight road any more than a kilometer any where in that 300ks.
I was getting 600ks out of a tank of fuel and even with the hepco and becker panniers and topbox loaded it comfotably sat on 140ks hour after hour and the zumo has a top speed reading for the trip of 184 which for that bike, fully loaded, Im pretty impressed with.
Highly recommended trip and a very pleasing bike.

Long legs for sure

Me, too. Did an 11 day 5,600 mile trip from Virginia to Utah. World Superbike races & stayed in Salt Lake City area for 5 days. Camped in the mountains of UT & CO. Bike did very well. 9 gallon tank makes life very easy. However, I can sure feel the 50 plus pounds of extra weight when I fill the tank.
